This should be done as earliest as possible as it may take your time if you do it late. Just get your notepad ready start with the first competitor who are above you. First you should find out their backlinks and compate their backlinks with your and those site with whom you have got those links. Backlinks are very necessary in forming your ranking and the more backlinks you had the higher you will go up but it should be from quality site.

Then try to find out what your competitor has done changes in their site. What new content they wrote or any other services which they are providing and you are not and also the layout of their site. Do they had change anything? You are watching something new in their site which you didn’t seen in past?. And also watched on which keyword they had outranked you. What are the meta tags they are using and their description etc.

You should do this with every site who are above you and getting those benefits which were been enjoying by yourself.

Implement those action

Last but not the least you should implement those action which you have found out or analyze that with these action might be your ranking may come up little big higher. Most of the webmaster are very lazy they will pulled out every money from the desert but they will not spend them when they are in need of.
